President Xi Jinping called on China and Africa to defeat the novel coronavirus with solidarity and cooperation. The two sides should work together to build a China-Africa community of health for all and take their comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership to a greater height. Xi made the remarks in Beijing when chairing the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 on June 17.

當(dāng)前，疫情仍在全球蔓延，中國(guó)和非洲都面臨抗疫情、穩(wěn)經(jīng)濟(jì)、保民生的艱巨任務(wù)。我們要堅(jiān)持人民至上、生命至上，統(tǒng)籌資源，團(tuán)結(jié)合作，盡最大努力保護(hù)人民生命安全和身體健康，最大限度降低疫情負(fù)面影響。
COVID-19 is still affecting many parts of the world. Both China and Africa face the formidable task of combating the virus while stabilizing the economy and protecting people’s livelihoods. We must always put our people and their lives front and center. We must mobilize necessary resources, stick together in collaboration, and do whatever it takes to protect people’s lives and health and minimize the fallout of COVID-19.
